| Product: | SPEL for Windows 1.x (all versions) |
| OS: | Windows 98 |
| Problem: | Internal error 5 during first Jog and Teach open on Windows 98 |
Symptoms
Using SPEL for Windows 1.x, when the Jog and Teach dialog
is open for the first time, an internal error 5 occurs. After clicking
OK, the Jog and Teach dialog will open.
Causes
Due to changes in the Windows 98 operating system from previous
systems, SPEL for Windows 1.x software does not run properly. Other
problems also occur. For example, after Jog and Teach is open, the point
files in the controller are updated every time, even though they don't need to
be.
Remedies
Windows 98 is not supported for SPEL for Windows 1.x
software. It is strongly recommended that you upgrade to version 2.x 32
bit software. The 1.x versions are 16 bit and were designed for use on
Windows 3.1. You can also use 1.x versions on Windows 95 and
Windows NT 4.0, but again, the upgrade to 2.0 is strongly
recommended.
Currently, Windows NT 4.0 is the preferred operating system to use with SPEL for Windows.
