Problem: Incorrect service pack error during installation

Symptoms
Before you install an upgrade, you must have already installed a previous version of SPEL for Windows 2.x. However, if you must reinstall the original version before you upgrade, you may receive an error message stating that the Windows NT service pack is incorrect, because you have upgraded Windows NT to a newer service pack since your first installation.

Remedies
Follow these steps to install the upgrade:

1. Start regedit from the Start | Run selection.
2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
3. Change the value for the CSDVersion to "Service Pack 3".
4. Install the full version of SPEL for Windows 2.x from your CD.
5. Reboot the PC as instructed at the end of installation.
6. Install the SPEL for Windows upgrade.

The CSDVersion in the registry will automatically be returned to the original value by Windows NT when the system is rebooted.
