Problem: What is the battery life for the absolute encoders used with EPSON Robots?

This applies to all EPSON Robots that have absolute encoders, including series E, E2, G, and PS.

The robot contains a battery that supplies power to the encoders when main power is off to hold position data.

The battery life is three years, regardless of whether the controller power is on or off.  It is recommended that the battery be replaced every three years to avoid downtime.

See the manual for your particular robot model for instructions on how to replace the battery.  It is important that you follow the correct procedure to avoid recalibrating the robot.
