Problem: Error 2006 occurs when starting SPEL for Windows

Symptoms
An error message #2006 is displayed when SPEL for Windows 2.0 is started.

Causes
The tool bar file is corrupted. The exact cause is not yet known because the problem has not been duplicated yet.

Remedies
Perform the following steps:

  1. Exit SPEL for Windows
  2. Delete the user tool bar file in the \SPELW directory where SPEL for Windows is installed. The tool bar file name is the user login name with the ".tb" extension. For example, if you log in to Windows with the name "mylogin", then you would delete the file "mylogin.tb".
  3. Restart SPEL for Windows.

After performing this procedure, the tool bars will be reset to there initial state and all custom tool bars will be deleted. A new .tb file will be created when SPEL for Windows exits.

Status
This problem is being researched and will be fixed in a future release.
