| Problem: | Vision Guide cannot be used if Parallel port service is not running |
Symptoms
The Vision Guide tool bar button cannot be seen
after starting SPEL for Windows 2.0, even though the software key is installed
on a parallel port. An event viewer error message is displayed after Windows NT
is started, as shown below:

When the event details are displayed in the event viewer program, it contains the following text:
"The Sentinel service depends on the
Parport service which failed to start because of the following error: The
system cannot find the device specified."
Causes
The parallel port where the Vision Guide 2.0
software key is connected is not enabled in the BIOS. The parallel port service
is used to read the software key.
Remedies
Run the PC BIOS setup and enable the parallel port
where the Vision Guide software key is connected.
