Installing Windows 2000 on RC420
using USB CD Drive
1. You must use a Windows 2000 SP3 or later
CD.
2. Boot the system and enter the BIOS using the Del key.
3. Ensure that IRQs 5, 10, and 11 are set to Legacy.
4. Change the 1st boot device to USB CDROM, the 2nd boot device to
Floppy, and the 3rd device to HDD-0.
5. Connect the USB CDROM drive to
either the front panel or rear panel USB port on the RC420.
6. Insert
the Windows 2000+SP3 CD into the USB CDROM drive.
7. Reboot the
system. The Windows Setup program should automatically start. Note
that at first the setup will run slower because the BIOS USB is being
used. After Windows 2000 starts for the first time during the setup, the
installation speed will be normal.
8. Complete the installation of
Windows 2000.
9. Refer to the instructions in Appendix A of the EPSON
RC+ User's Guide for the remaining steps.
10. Set the Windows Time, Date, and Screen Resolution.
11. Install EPSON RC+.
12. Configure the Optional Device com port 3 if using this port.
13. Install the UPS driver if using the UPS option.
13. Reserve memory, IRQ, and port addresses for MIB and I/O boards.
14. Installation is complete.
