Subject: Creating/editing project on network drives with read-only roots

EPSON RC+ uses a fixed directory structure for project files.  All projects are stored under \EpsonRC\Projects on any drive.  Sub directories can be created under this path.  The fixed structure allows EPSON RC+ to find all projects on a drive quickly, rather than scanning the entire hard disk or server path for project files.  Also, it's easy to locate project directories on any drive.  EPSON RC+ stores all files in a single directory to prevent cross files and lost files.  A project contains several files in one directory, not just one make file with other project files located everywhere.

Because of the fixed structure, if you want to use a different root directory for your projects, you must map a network share to a drive on your PC.

For example, let's say there is a users directory on a server with read-only access.

You want to store EPSON RC+ projects in your directory (user1).

\\server\users\user1\

On the server, have your Administrator create a share for your directory, such as "User1Projects".  He should assign full control security rights for your user rights or group rights.

On your PC, map a network drive to the share.  One method is to right click on the Network Neighborhood control box (upper left corner) and select Map Network Drive.  Browse to "User1Projects".

Now you can use the mapped drive for EPSON RC+ projects.

EPSON RC+ will store the projects under:

\\server\users\user1\EpsonRC\Projects
